Slim-Fast Strawberries ’N’ Cream Shake Review

Hey guys!

I have a new product to review for you from Influenster.

This post was created in connection with my appointment as a SlimFast Ambassador. I received this product free from Influenster and SlimFast for an honest review.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

"SlimFast can help you Get What You Really Want this summer!
SlimFast is the perfect base for deliciously creamy summer cocktails/mocktails. SlimFast has partnered with DR Mixologist, Darryl Robinson, host of “Drink up” on The Cooking Channel, who created four exclusive recipes featuring some of the tastiest and trendiest ingredients of the season. With just 130-190 calories in every delicious cocktail, you won’t have to worry about enjoying the summer in your favorite teeny bikini.
SlimFast products are sold at Amazon.com, as well as other online and local retailers nationwide."

This was an exciting product to review because I was sent one shake, as well as four cocktail/mocktail recipe cards and a super cute cocktail glass.

Each recipe card was two sided. One side had a cocktail recipe, and the other side was a mocktail recipe. I really liked that they included both so you could decide if you wanted to include alcohol or not.

Each recipe coincided with one of the SlimFast shakes.

Cinful Iced Latte - SlimFast Cappuccino Delight Shake
Berry Sexy Vanilla Sunrise - SlimFast French Vanilla Shake
Tall, Dark & Handsome - SlimFast Rich Chocolate Royale Shake
Sassy Strawberry Colada - Strawberries 'N' Cream Shake

Here's a link to the recipes.

I made my own version of the Sassy Strawberry Colada, using banana instead of pineapple.

I'm allergic to pineapple.

Also it's gross.

I invited two of my closest friends over and blended away!

Here's a photo of my creation.

My initial thought was that I didn't blend it long enough and it was too icy.
I blended again until I reached a smoother consistency.

My friends and I both agreed that the shake tasted a bit chalky.

I don't normally drink fruity cocktails so I personally think this shake would be better suited in a smoothie as opposed to a cocktail.

I'm really curious to try some of the other flavors so I'll probably pick them up in the next few weeks and try them out.

I hope you enjoyed my review and feel free to check me out on Facebook!

Secret Outlast Clear Gel Review

Hello!

Today I'm reviewing a deoderant I received complimentary from Influenster.

This guy.

So to start off, my skin is crazy sensitive and dry and just all around ridiculous. I dread switching deoderants because I always end up having a rash for the first week and it's awful.

Awful.

I made the dreaded switch and nothing happened.

Nothing.

No bad reaction.

No rash.

It was great! This was the first deoderant that actually helped my skin and made it look better.

WOOHOO!

The main claim behind this product is that it doesn't leave any white marks on clothing.

Here's their commercial on YouTube.

I love this because I have definitely done that dance. I call it the "Twirl-A-Girl-Whirl."

I also wear a lot of black clothing so I was excited to see how it held up.

NO WHITE MARKS!

Nice!

I did still sweat but I do live in Chicago where the humidity sticks to you like glue so that didn't bother me all too much.

In the end, I was really happy with this product and will definitely be buying more in the future!

4th of July Mani featuring Kawaii Nail Lacquer

I love Independence Day.

It's such a feel good holiday full of friends and food and family.

I also am quite a fan of themed nails.

I love them.

Here's a look at two of the manicures I did for Independence Day using Kawaii Nail Lacquer.

This is the lovely Stars And Dots.

Two coats over Salon Perfect Sugar Cube.

I wasn't sure how thick the formula was so I used Sugar Cube as a precaution but it was not needed. This polish has an excellent opacity and applies like a dream.

This is the stunning Firecracker over Orly Goth.

Two coats.

DREAMY.

I used black for the undies because I wear black 83.7% of the time and wore a black and red tutu on the 4th.

Deal with it.

Seriously though. I'm in love with this polish.

It's the best. Applies smooth and easy and is so darn sparkly! I can't wait to wear it over more colors.

You can find both of these polishes on Etsy and feel free to like the Kawaii Facebook page as well!

And while you're on Facebook please like my page as well!

I post lots of manis and swatches that don't end up on my blog.

Okay that's it!

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Gelastic Review

Look at me.

Two reviews in one week.

I am on a roll.

Okay.

So this review is on a product I received in my Influenster Spring Vox Box.

I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster.

I've used Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ products before and have always been really satisfied with the result.

When I was doing the pre-survey for Influenster to see if I would qualify for the box I was asked what hair products I used. At the time, my hair was cut in a curly bob and I used creams and gels to tame the frizz.

Than I cut all of my hair off.

All of it.

I buzzed the back and side (just one) and basically just have an asymmetrical curly bang thing.

I don't usually put product in it except for a texturizing cream.

A week later I got my Vox Box and with it came Gelastic.

POOP.

I HAVE NO HAIR TO USE WITH THIS.

I let my bangs grow out a bit (luckily my hair grows ridiculously fast) and then tried it out.

I think I did it wrong.

I put a tiny bit in my hand and diluted it with water and then worked it in from the roots to the tips of my hair.

This was by far the stickiest gel I have ever used. I had to wash my hands two times to get all of it off and when I tried to get it out in the shower I had to shampoo twice.

Considering I rarely shampoo my hair in the first place this did not make me the happiest.

It also dried crazy fast and then my hair was crunchy.

Ugh.

I would rather have frizz than crunch.

Things that should crunch:
Cereal
Toast
Leaves

Things that should not crunch:
Oatmeal
Pillows
Hair

Moving On.

I decided to look at the product description to see what they said about their product.

Here it is:

Benefits:
Ultra strong style control all day long
Dries with a firm strong finish
Lasting definition

Ingredients:
Resins normally used in finishing sprays provide lasting, strong and moldable hold

Application:
Apply a small amount into damp hair and style as desired, or work into dry hair for additional separation
Create your style or add texture as preferred
Control Level 4/5.07 fl.oz

After reading this I actually liked the product a lot more. It is described as having
ultra strong style control
firm strong finish
lasting, strong moldable hold

Okay.

I get that I'm just repeating what they said.

But stick with me.

I think the only reason I wasn't happy with this product is because I never use strong hold products.

Ever.

I always use flexable, light products so my hair maintains its natural curl while eliminating frizz.

So, if you're looking for a product that will hold your hair all day, this is for you!

If not, I really love Dust It.

It's rad.

I'm going to be honest here.

I was not super excited about trying these.

Don't get me wrong. I love all things related to nails, but I had seen these in the store and just thought they looked kind of cheap and the design I received was not my favorite.

Then I tried them.

Woah.

THESE ARE THE PRETTIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! WHY DID I EVEN DOUBT THEM?

I can't even.

THESE DON'T EVEN LOOK LIKE PRESS ON NAILS.

THEY ARE SO REAL AND LIFE LIKE.

Okay I'm done with the caps.

Deep breath.

Seriously. These are so great.

Application was a breeze. It took me under ten minutes to open the package, read the directions, prep my nails, and apply the nails.

AND LOOK AT THEM.

LOOK AT THEM.

The colors weren't my favorite at first but they did really start to grow on me.

The amount of compliments I got on them was ridiculous.

The only downside was the thumbnail.

I have naturally tiny nails.

Like, really tiny.

It's wierd how tiny they are.

ANYWAY.

All the nails fit really well and then the largest thumbnail was way too small.

I ended up filing my thumbnail down to make it fit but it looks smaller than the rest of my nails so that's kind of lame.

I did research that a bit and discovered that they do come in different sizes so maybe the medium thumbnail would have worked better?

But the other nails fit fine so maybe I need a medium set for the thumb and a small set for the fingers.

I don't think my thumb is that big.

Whatever.

The staying power on these was really great too. I've had them on for three days and only one of them popped off but that was my fault.

Here's some more pictures!

I should add that I didn't use OPI's base coat with these, it just felt strange not holding a polish bottle while modeling these so I grabbed the closest thing I could find.

On a semi-unrelated note, I went to see a movie with a friend after applying these and as I was spraying on my perfume I was like...

Woah.

My nails match my perfume bottle.

SEE

This is With Love by Hilary Duff.

It basically smells like Heaven.

Okay, so that's it for my review and all in all, I was really imPRESSed with these. (See what I did there?) and am planning on buying them in the future!

TastyKake Kandy Bar Kakes

Hello!

This is a review of TastyKakes Kandy Bar Kakes.

They describe the product this way:
"Kandy Bar Kakes are the best of both worlds. Light and fluffy chocolate enrobed cakes come in a unique kandy bar shape with a delicious créme filling made with your favorite candy flavors. Available in S'mores, Peppermint, and Peanut Butter flavor.

Available at grocery and convenience stores across America."

I received this product in my Influenster Spring Vox Box and was pretty skeptical. I'm not one for snack foods like this (cakes, cookies, candy bars, etc...) and if I do indulge in one, there's a 83.7% chance that there's peanut butter in it.

I really love peanut butter.

I digress.

It was a little bit smooshed in the box. (I think the hair product I received kept rolling over it.) So when I got around to trying it out it was a little bit crumbly.

Crumbs are not my favorite. They always go right for the cleavage.

I think if it hadn't been shipped to me and I had bought one in the store the crumbs wouldn't be an issue, but then again, maybe not.

Okay. Taste.

It was... sweet? I think I probably would have really liked this in highschool when sweet snacks were my life, but in my ripe old age of twenty-three, it was just a tad too sweet.

The S'more flavor wasn't my favorite either. I've never been big on S'mores. I saw some people got a Reese's bar and I'm sure I would have preferred that one.

Calories.

WOAH. One cake is one serving and has 260 calories and 38 carbs.

Ugh. That's too much.

So let's break it down.

Pros:
I like that it was made with Hershey's cocoa. I trust Hershey's cocoa. I don't know why. I just do. Deal with it.

I actually didn't mind the flavor. I'm not big on s'mores, but it wasn't awful. Just sweet, like a s'more. I think that if I had been able to try a Reese's one, I would have really liked it.

Price.
Single Serve - $1.69 Family Pack - $4.49
I think that's a pretty fair price for the product. I don't think I'd spend any more than $2 on a single serve.

Cons:
The size of the snack itself was a little bigger than I would have liked. I wish they had split the cake (kake?) into two bars. Then you could share it with a friend or eat both sides or only eat half... You get the picture.

Crumbs. They're the worst.

Calories. Ooh. That's so much for one bar. This brings me back to splitting it in two. I think it would be much easier to justify the calories if I only ate half of one, and if I wanted to eat both sides, who's going to stop me? It's my life.

So there you have it!

I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster.

Kawaii Nail Lacquer - Avengers

Serendipity means a "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it.

That is the story of how I happened upon Kawaii Nail Lacquer.

Etsy is a wonderful place. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll search random things to see what I can find. It was on June 22nd of last year that I decided to search Etsy for Avengers items.

Side bar. If there is one thing you should know about me, it is that I love the Avengers and I love nail polish and I love glitter.

I remember staring at the screen not quite believing my eyes.
My inner fan girl was hyperventilating.
Someone had created a line of Avengers glitter nail polish.

Avengers.

Glitter.

Nail Polish.

I quickly messaged the seller, who turned out to be the sweetest person in the entire world, Jamie, and she set me up right away with my own private listing to include another polish I liked and faster than I could say "Avengers! Assemble!" I had in my possession a seven piece glitter nail polish collection inspired by six of my favorite heroes and one of my favorite villains.

Now let's have a look at these pretties.

All swatches are one coat over Orly Decades of Dysfunction

First we have the beautiful Black Widow.
Jamie describes Black Widow as being filled with 'Red Hex's small and large, some red stain matte red hex, along with black small and large Hex's. Also has various red bar glitter, Small silver hex's and a small amount of Silver shards thrown in.'
Black Widow applies beautifully and there is no need to fish for glitter because it comes out on the brush so wonderfully!

Next we have Captain America.
While all of the other Avenger polishes are available for individual sale, Captain America is only available in the set. I believe this is because of a glitter shortage, but I'm not sure. This polish is a lovely concoction of small, medium and large matte white hexes, matte white bars, small, medium and large red hexes, red bars, small, medium and large bright blue hexes, bright blue bars, large silver hexes and holo stars.
Captain America is so darn beautiful and this picture really doesn't do it justice. I did have to do some fishing for the stars, but it wasn't too bad. I store the bottle upside down so that might help. I haven't had any problems with the bar glitter sticking up either which is usually a huge battle.

Hawkeye.
Sigh. Hawkeye is my favorite.
Polish. Hero. Whatever. He's just the best. Jeremy Renner isn't too bad either.
That's not the point. The point is this polish is my favorite in the collection. I use it more than any of the others and it is just the prettiest thing in the world. Granted, I am partial to purple, but whatever. Jamie describes Hawkeye as having 'small and large purple hexagon pieces, with fine black glitter and black bars of glitter with a hint of lavender matte hexagons.'
I MEAN REALLY.
It is just perfection in a bottle. I adore the black bars because I imagine them as little arrows and here I go fan-girling away. I'm not ashamed. This polish is the best. It applies like a dream and there is absolutely no fishing for glitter.

And now for the Hulk.
The Hulk is my second favorite in the collection, and it is a very close second. I use it almost as much as Hawkeye and I am always getting compliments when I wear it. Jamie lists Hulk as being 'packed with tons of lime green holo hexagons, small hint of mint glitter. With Purple hexagons and fine purple glitter to pack a punch!'
So great. I really love how simple this polish is. The rest of the polishes in the Avengers collection are mixes of hexes, bars and shards, but this is a very simple, very pretty mix of just hexes. I did notice that the base isn't clear, it has a slight green tint to it. I'm not sure if it was meant to be that way or if maybe the glitter bled but it doesn't bother me and I haven't noticed that in any of the other polishes I have from Kawaii.

Iron Man.
This one is also great. I don't use this as often as I would like, not because I don't love it, but simply because I tend to paint my nails blue, green and purple and while I love the color orange, it doesn't  show up often on my fingers and I rarely, if ever, paint my nails red. This polish is described as having 'fine red glitter, more red bar glitter with big red hexagon pieces, with fine holo gold glitter with orange hexagons and orange bar glitter.'
I did forget just how beautiful this polish was until I swatched it for this post. It catches the light so nicely and really sparkles on the nail. Application isn't quite as smooth as the others, and while I don't have to fish for glitter, I did have to dip my brush in twice to get enough glitter to cover the whole nail. I wish there were a tad bit more bars but it's still quite lovely.

Next I have Loki.
Loki is not an avenger, but he does bring them together in an effort to bring him down. Jamie describes Loki as being filled with 'green squares, with fine green glitter, green hexagon pieces and then it has large holo lemon hexagons with gold bar glitter and more gold hexagons with a hint of mint glitter this one will take your breath away.'
The glitter in Loki is probably the most sparkly of the polishes in this collection. I love the holo lemon hexagons and they catch the light beautifully.
I wish I liked this one more, but it is definitely my least favorite in the collection. I never wear it. This has nothing to do with how it applies, which is wonderful, and everything to do with the colors. I just happen to be from Chicago and am a pretty big fan of the Chicago Bears. This means I really don't like The Green Bay Packers and this polish just happens to be their team colors. Ew. I actually might wear this one for St, Patrick's Day, because I think it would be perfect, but other than that, this one is rarely used.

And lastly, we have Thor.
Thor is described by Jamie as having 'small red hexagons with some big red hexagons, with red slices and Silver hexagons as well as Gun metal hexagons to give it the perfect Gray Shine it needs :)'
In the bottle, Thor and Black Widow seem very similar, but their differences are very apparent on the nail. I think I like Black Widow a bit more than Thor, only because I love how striking the red is against the black, and Thor is mostly silver and grey which can be a little boring. I've used this several times when I've done a french manicure with glitter tips and I love it for that.

So there you have it! I hope this review was helpful and you can find Kawaii Nail Lacquer on Etsy and on Facebook.

Essie Holiday Collection

Every year around Christmas different polish companies start releasing holiday collections. I am quickly overwhelmed with RED RED RED and maybe a few greens, a white and the token glitter thrown in at the end.

I love green polishes but I rarely, if ever, paint my nails red. Because of this I usually end up ignoring most of the holiday collections and only picking up the glitters and maybe a new green.

This past holiday however, I was pleasantly surprised with Essie's Holiday colors.

Yes, there were red polishes (three of them) but one, much to my surprise, that I absolutely had to have, and the most beautiful turquoise blue I have seen yet. Even their glitter was fun and unique compared to others I had seen. Woah. They even a had a BEAUTIFUL deep cream blue. I loved it!

I ended up only purchasing two from this collection. Where's My Chauffeur and Leading Lady. I might end up grabbing Butler Please later on, but right now I'm happy with just these two.

I have already worn Where's My Chauffeur several times and am just head over heels for it.

I love this polish because it's almost a one coater, I used two just to cover some bald spots for the photo and it is SO shiny. A very smooth application as well. I'm wearing it here with no top coat.

I also layered Kawaii Nail Laquer's Snowflake Effect (a beautiful custom polish) over for a winter look
The prettiest.

And now for Leading Lady:
Haha, please ignore my unpainted thumb. I don't usually paint it when swatching colors ;)
LOOK AT THIS RED THOUGH.
IT IS SO DARN SPARKLY
The application is wonderful, and is shown here with two coats, no topcoat. In the future I would probably use three coats for a more perfectly opaque look and definitely top it off with a top coat for added shine.

Feeling punky

I hope you all enjoyed the photos

Keep Going & Don't Give Up

I don't make New Year's Resolutions.

I have nothing against them, it just seems to me that we should be trying to better ourselves throughout the year, and not just at the beginning of it.

If I were to make resolutions, they would probably go a little something like this:

-Blog more (I mean really, my last post was October 14th. That's pathetic)
-Live a healthier lifestyle
-Keep my room clean (it's a never-ending mess)
-Spend less and save more.
-Cherish the time I have with family and friends
-Be more consistent in my walk with God

...and so on.

The thing is, these six things are things that I already try to do every day. I fail at them all consistently but I keep trying because they are all important to me. I want to do everything on this list perfectly but I don't. I'm not resolving to do these because I'm already resolved to do them once and I haven't given up just because I've failed.

So maybe that's what my resolution should be...

Keep Going & Don't Give Up
